WordPress is an open source content management system that has grown since 2003 from a bit of code used by fewer than a dozen people to a major web publishing tool that powers millions of sites, large and small, worldwide.
WordPress code and documentation is created by and for the community. As an open source project, hundreds of people all over the world are working on it (more than many commercial platforms). It also means you can use it for anything from your cat’s home page to a Fortune 500 website, without paying licensing fees.
US Server Net supports the use of open source software whenever possible. Our servers run GNU/Linux, and the same free operating system powers our office computers. We use GNUCash for bookkeeping, and support open source development and use among our members and vendors.
